How fast is fast?

TTFB (Time to First Byte) measures how quickly the server responds. Results include your network latency — actual server processing for cached pages is near-zero.

< 150msExcellentFaster than a blink of an eye (300ms). The page is ready before your finger leaves the mouse.

150–400msGoodThe time it takes light to travel from London to New York and back. Faster than most e-commerce platforms.

400–800msOKAbout the time it takes to hear a clap across a football pitch. Typical for Shopify and Squarespace.

Results are measured from your browser. TTFB includes your network latency to Vercel's nearest edge node. VPN connections, mobile networks, and geographic distance will increase times. Server processing time for cached pages is typically <5ms — the remainder is network round-trip.
